Links

Here are some photography and digital imaging related links:

Large Format Photography Bulletin Board. This site is your best source for information about large format photography. The publisher of this bulletin board, Q. Tuan Luong, also has an excellent homepage that provides additional reference material for people interested in large format photography. Kerry Thalman's large format home page is another superb reference concerning large format photography equipment and technique.

PEI Magazine. This is the homepage of a magazine focusing on professional digital imaging issues and products that are of particular interest to photographers. They also have a good bulletin board or "forum."

ColorSync. Apple's page for its colorsync technology. Learning about and using computer color management is in my opinion worth the effort. There's also an excellent colorsync users digest to which you can subscribe if you follow the links on this page.

B&H Photo-Video. A mail order store for all photography and digital imaging related equipment that offers steeply discounted prices. Although it's a few years old now,the B&H Professional Photo Sourcebook is the best published listing of professional photography equipment of which I am aware. A more traditional retailer that also has a significant web presence, prices that come close to those from B&H Photo-Video and that offers superior service is Calumet Photo. Another mail order source for discounted/wholesale professional photographic equipment is Badger Graphic Sales. I personally have had very positive experiences with all of these stores, but do not offer any assurances.

Photo.Net. This is another good general clearinghouse for photography information. It has links to other photography-related bulletin boards, including the "Original Q&A."

NancyScans. This is the service bureau that I use for Lightjet prints, and many drum scans. After I perform my own corrections for color, contrast, tone, and sharpening in Adobe Photoshop, I send digital files to NancyScans for printing on the LightJet 5000. In my opinion, NancyScans offers excellent service at a competitive price.

West Coast Imaging. I recently have started alternating between using WCI and Nancyscans for drum scanning. Both offer great service.

National Parks. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful National Park system.

Rob Gray - a large format photographer who works in black and white and specializes in photographing the far reaches of Australia. He's also in the process of designing and building what he calls the "mother of all motorhomes," which demonstrates the healthy fanatacism of large format photographers.
